Finance Department: 2006-2007 Adopted Budget

Oregon Budget Law regulates the City's budget proposal, approval, and final adoption process for all municipalities in Oregon. The City of McMinnville's Budget Committee meets in mid-May and receives the Proposed Budget from the City Manager, who is the City's Budget Officer.

The Budget Committee is comprised of the Mayor and City Council with a matching number of citizens, making the total committee 14. The Budget Committee after deliberating on the Proposed Budget moves to approve the Proposed Budget as presented or as amended. After the Financial Summary of the Approved Budget is published, the City Council, at the first meeting in June, holds a public hearing on the Budget Committee's Approved Budget.  At the last City Council meeting in June, the City Council adopts the budget for the next fiscal year, taking into consideration any updated revenue and expenditure projections, adjusting within Oregon local budget law limits.

The City's fiscal year is from July 1 to June 30.
