Violations Bureau The Violations Bureau can handle many citations administratively, either in person or by mail.If you take care of your ticket through the Violations Bureau before the time you were scheduled to appear in court, you do not need to go to court.
You have the right to go to court and plead not guilty. You also have the right to appear in court with an explanation for the judge. However, the Violations Bureau gives you the option to find out how much your fine is without going to court. If you pay your fine through the Violations Bureau, you will not have to go to court. The fine will be set by the judge and could be lower than the amount shown on your citation. If you go to court and plead guilty or no contest, the fine you will receive in court will usually be the same as the fine you would have gotten through the Violations Bureau.
