KOB's after-school enrichment program spring session begins Monday, Feb. 8. Deadline to sign up is Thursday, Feb. 4. Registrations after Feb. 4 will be accepted if space is available. Register at the Community Center front desk.
Kids on the Block After-School Enrichment offers a safe, fun environment that strives to promote academic and recreational development for 1st – 5th grade students. It serves more than 650 children each school day. The program combines two elements –- an hour of academic enrichment called “Power Hour” followed by two hours of recreation enrichment.
Kids on the Block is collaboratively sponsored by the City of McMinnville Parks & Recreation Department, McMinnville School District, and non-profit KOB Inc. Kids on the Block staff are hired by the Parks & Recreation Department to care for children and lead recreation enrichment activities such as arts & crafts, sports, and games. KOB also includes special events like Outdoor School and Science Week, as well as guest speakers and workshop presenters.
Registration
The Community Center front desk is open Tuesday – Friday (9 am – 9 pm) and Saturday (9 am – 6 pm). Students are guaranteed an enrollment space if they are registered by September 5th for Fall session and by December 5th for Spring session.
However, please register ASAP! Registering as early as possible, rather than waiting until the last minute, will assist us in hiring and training enough staff. Maintaining an appropriate adult to child ratio is critical for program quality.

Did You Know? The actual cost of the KOB After-School Enrichment program is more than $900 per student per year! At approximately $1.10 per hour, the Traditional Subsidized Fee is less than half of the actual cost of the program. At approximately 55 cents per hour, the Discounted Fee for students who qualify for the federal free & reduced lunch program is less than a 25% of the actual cost.
We are able to keep program fees affordable thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members who contribute to the Mayor’s Charity Ball and other KOB Inc fundraising efforts. Additionally, the McMinnville School District and City of McMinnville Parks & Recreation Department each contribute a significantly large portion of the program’s annual operating costs.
