Annual Leaf Pickup Program (All Day)
The City of McMinnville’s annual leaf pickup program will begin the week of October 25 and continue through December 31, 2010 and is offered to residents every other week according to the following schedule:
East of Baker Street West of Baker Street
Oct. 25 – Oct. 29 Nov. 1 - 5
Nov. 8 –12 Nov.15 – 19
Nov. 22– Nov. 26 Nov. 29 - Dec 3
Dec. 6 – Dec. 10 Dec. 13 – Dec. 17
Dec. 20– Dec 24 Dec. 27 – Dec 31
RESIDENTS ARE ASKED NOT TO PUT LEAVES IN THE STREET BEFORE OCTOBER 25. We ask that when residents put their leaves in the street they leave a one-foot area between leaves and the curb so storm water can flow to catch basins. Leaves must be loose. Debris other than leaves, such as branches, rocks, metal and lawn clippings will not be removed; scattered leaves and leaves piled under or close to parked cars cannot be collected.
The City is asking residents to avoid piling leaves in front of individual and group mail boxes, and to keep porches and walks clear to avoid slippery conditions for mail carriers, meter readers and others.
All leaves collected will be delivered to the yard debris recycle center on Orchard Avenue. Recycling the leaves reduces the load on the area landfills. City residents may dump leaves at the recycle center, located at 2200 NE Orchard Avenue. Leaves must be loose. If delivered in bags, the driver must remove leaves from bags before they will be accepted.
Property owners will be responsible for removing any leaf piles on the street in front of their property after December 31, 2010. For program questions, please contact Public Works at 503-434-7316.
