Family and Dog Parks Open to Public
westhillspark1.jpgWest Hills Neighborhood Park:  McMinnville’s new 7.7 acre “West Hills Neighborhood Park” is now open for public use.  The new park is located between West Second Street and Redmond Hill Road approximately one half mile west of Hill Road.  The new park currently features a major play structure including small climbing boulders and slides, swing sets, picnic tables and concrete pathways that meander throughout the park.   A small creek trickles through the parks west perimeter.  Large open lawn turf areas are available for play.  A small parking lot including handicap stalls can be accessed from Second Street.  Adjacent on street parking is also available on both Second Street and on Redmond Hill Road.  Future park improvements will include picnic shelter, restroom and basketball court, as funding is available.

dogpark3.jpgSummer Area – Dog Park:  The remaining two acres of lawn turf area is now open for use by patrons of McMinnville’s new Riverside Drive Dog Park.  The summer area, a 2 acre area of lawn turf with asphalt pathway, is intended to provide an expanded use area for pets and their owners during “good weather” months (spring, summer, fall) as weather allows.  Due to the very wet spring and early summer this year, this lawn turf area needed extra time to grow and “knit-up” well enough to withstand public use.  This half of the park opened September 1 and virtually doubled the size of usable Dog Park space which now offers four acres of area for pets to frolic and run, off-leash.  It is the only McMinnville Park in which off-leash activity is allowed.  The Riverside Drive Dog Park is located at 1900 NE Riverside Drive, about ½ mile east of Lafayette Avenue.
