Advisory Committee to Address Downtown Improvements
There currently exist several master plans for McMinnville’s downtown, each of which include specific projects or programs aimed at maintaining and improving the character and vitality for which this area is known. Some of these projects and programs are completed; a good number of them, however, remain unfinished due to funding.
This past year, the McMinnville City Council appointed an advisory committee to review these various plans with the goal of developing strategies for funding the improvements recommended within them. This committee has met several times over the course of the year and is currently exploring strategies that would ensure on-going funding of smaller cost projects that provide “ incremental” growth and improvement to the downtown (e.g., lighting, street furniture and art), as well as funding for those larger scale --- and cost --- projects, such as redevelopment of the downtown’s east end.
The committee continues to work to refine these strategies and will be providing updates on its progress to the City Council in the coming months. For further information on this committee’s work, please contact Doug Montgomery, McMinnville Planning Director, at (503) 434-7311, or by email at
