Kiwanis Park

picture

This 4.6 acre park, nestled against the Yamhill River at the west entry to Dancer Park, once offered McMinnville’s only boat ramp to the Yamhill River.  Unfortunately, mother nature and the power of the Yamhill winter river turbulence have combined to cause the boat ramp hillside to collapse, thus eliminating recreational boating access to the river at this location. Still, Kiwanis Park features a small parking area off Brooks Street, new pedestrian bridge across an interesting natural ravine, hard-surface pathways (.25 mile) meandering through the small park area west of the bridge, picnic tables and access to the adjacent Dancer Park forest trail which parallels the Yamhill and offers interesting viewpoints. Portable restroom in parking area. Dogs must remain leashed (off-leash activity prohibited). Purchased and developed by McMinnville Kiwanis Club. Given to the county then deeded to the City for park purposes in 1973.
